Mike Taylor Premieres Video For "Colours," Song Celebrating Diversity
Friday, critically acclaimed singer and songwriter Mike Taylor unveiled the visual for his latest single “Colours." It’s the latest single from his Feel Good EP [Rostrum Records]. Earlier this week, he privately screened the clip at Estrella in Los Angeles to a roar of crowd applause. Shot in Guanajuato, Mexico in just two days, Taylor and director Colombia Tatone and producer Jamee Ranta tapped into the vibrancy and innocence of the city, while exploring the turbulence of the current political climate in the U.S."Too often I feel that there is a lack of representation and misrepresentation of people of color in the mainstream," Taylor said of the song. "I think it’s very important to be able to see yourself reflected in the world you live in. So rather than be angry about it, I ended up writing a song celebrating “POC’s” (people of color) as well as diversity as a whole. What’s dope about using color (or colour) as a metaphor is that it doesn’t necessarily have to mean skin color, it can mean celebrating your vibrance. That’s the kind of prismatic world I was imagining when I wrote this song."What did you think of the song and visuals? If you're feeling Mike Taylor hit the flip for another video from one of our favorite songs off his EP, "Electric Church." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SlavelSiw9w
